Getting Started
How does Earned work?
Choose a task, set a timer, and keep your selected apps locked until the timer finishes. When you complete the task, you earn a scroll window — limited screen time you've actually earned. When the scroll window ends, apps lock again until your next task.
Why do I need Screen Time permission?
Earned uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs to lock and unlock apps you choose. Without this permission, the app cannot shield your selected apps. Grant permission during onboarding, or go to iOS Settings → Screen Time → App & Website Limits and ensure Earned has access.
Can I pause the timer?
No — that's intentional. The timer runs until it reaches zero with no pause or override, so your screen time is truly earned.
Subscriptions
What's included in Earned Pro?
Pro unlocks unlimited app locking, unlimited app folders, custom tasks and durations, scheduled tasks, full insights, streak history, and custom scroll window length.
How do I restore my purchase?
Open Earned → Settings → tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple. Go to Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions → Earned and tap Cancel. You'll keep Pro access until the end of the current billing period.
Troubleshooting
Apps aren't locking
Make sure Screen Time permission is granted, you've selected apps to lock in Settings → Manage App Folders, and you've started an active task timer. Try force-quitting Earned and reopening it.
Apps didn't unlock after my timer ended
Open Earned once to sync state. If the issue persists, check that notifications are enabled and try restarting your device. Contact us if problems continue.
"Start a Task" on the shield screen doesn't open the app
Tap the button again, or open Earned manually from your home screen. If you were logged out, sign in and tap Start a Task from the home screen.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, use the password reset flow for email accounts, or sign in with Apple if you originally used that method.
